Neuropathy is damage or dysfunction of one or more nerves that typically results in numbness, tingling, muscle weakness and pain in the affected area. Neuropathies frequently start in your hands and feet, but other parts of your body can be affected too.
Neuropathy Support supplement contain ingredients that promote pain relief and help support nerve fiber health:
Lipoic acid- is an approved treatment for diabetic neuropathy in Germany and it has an important role in glucose metabolism in diabetics. Studies have shown that Lipoic acid is able to inhibit inflammation by reducing glycation. It has also been reported that lipoic acid can protect against oxidative damage in neuronal cell culture. It also improves blood flow to nerves and allows them to use energy more efficiently.
N-acetylcysteine (NAC)- functions directly as an antioxidant and helps increase the levels of another naturally occurring antioxidant, glutathione. NAC also protects neurons from oxidative damage
L-Carnitine- is an amino acid-like compound important for mitochondrial energy production. Carnitine supplementation may help combat carnitine deficiency, improve insulin resistance, allow cells to use glucose more efficiently, help regenerate damaged nerve fibers, or help damaged neurons transport intracellular components more effectively.
Thiamine (Vitamin B1)- Lack of thiamine can directly cause neuropathy. It may also help prevent vascular problems that contribute to neuropathy.
Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12)- is critical for the function of the nervous system, and a lack of it can cause significant peripheral neuropathy. In addition, people with diabetic neuropathy often have high levels of the blood vessel-damaging compound homocysteine, which can be elevated in the presence of low vitamin B12.
Pyridoxal-5-Phospahte (Vitamin B6)- Much like Vitamin B12, vitamin B6 is important for nerve function, while folate may help improve the function of blood vessels that supply the nerves
Vitamin C. Research has found that diabetics have low levels of vitamin C; and this appears to be a result of the disease itself, not of decreased dietary intake of vitamin C.
Turmeric (95% Curcumin)- Curcumin possesses anti-inflammatory properties & evidence suggests that curcumin may modulate pain sensations via decreasing levels of a free radical called nitric oxide and suppressing the inflammatory mediator TNF-α.
Evening Primrose Oil- contains Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA) which has anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting formation of inflammatory cytokines.
